After
inheriting a large sum of money, Heidi and Jason Davis, looking for
solitude and peace in rural Ontario, buy their 1000 acre dream home
on Manitoulin Island and move there with their 14 year old daughter,
Jennifer. Having to leave all her friends, begin a new school, and
adjust to a new life-style, Jennifer hates the island. At the
beginning of summer-break Jennifer rescues a stranded wolf pup, names
him Boots, and tries to convince her parents the little wolf is an
Indian dog given to her by her new Ojibwa school friend, Sharon
Goodchild. An argument ensues with her mother, and not wanting to
lose the little wolf, Jennifer runs away with the puppy to join
Ashley, an old friend, in downtown Toronto. Many adventures follow in
the bright lights and glamour of the big city with the pair enjoying
a summer of total freedom living in a rundown apartment with
Ashleys mother, begging for money on the streets during
the day, partying to all hours of the night, and trying to deal with
a maturing wolf pup. Trouble, it seems, is never far away for the two
girls and the little wolf, and they get caught up with the seedier
side of life in a big city. Jason flies to the rescue and brings a
remorseful Jennifer home. Ashley unexpectedly arrives at the Davis
home, a runaway from the Catholic Childrens Aid, and more
trouble follows when the three girls, Jennifer, Ashley and Sharon,
encounter five hunters out for revenge against Boots and the other
wolves on the Davis home-stead. Jennifers Boots is a
heartwarming story that will touch the reader deeply, make them laugh
and cry, and ends with a sense of joy and a cheer for Jennifer and
Jennifers Boots.
