This
is one of the few times I rode the 350 twin cylinder Paton. The
photo was taken at Bottom Bend, Brands Hatch. Number 4 is Rex Butcher.
My
knees are out, as is my toe in uncharacteristic riding style for me.
This was in 1966 the year following my hip injury in Japan, and I was
learning to adjust to the physical limitations imposed on me by the
artificial hip joint.
The
Paton was a lovely bike to ride, fast for a 350 of the time, about
the same speed as a 500 single on a short circuit, but it had some
horrendous vibrations which were later corrected by changing the
crankshaft balance factor.
